I have been using the Dr Botanical Shine Enhancing Daily Shampoo and the Complete Daily Conditioner for a few days now, and I like how it makes my hair look and feel.

First Impressions

I really like the presentation of the shampoo and conditioner. I felt that the white presentation box and bottles and the wooden type screw tops really do help portray the image of a company focused on natural ingredients.

Dr Botanical Shine Enhancing Daily Shampoo with Aloe Vera

On first use of the shampoo, I washed my hair twice to get it to lather up, but even on the first wash, my hair felt squeaky clean. Every day since, I have only washed my hair once as I have learnt that it’s actually the synthetic detergent used in other shampoos that create the big lather / foam. There was a very subtle fragrance to this shampoo, and I do mean ‘very subtle’!

Dr Botanical Complete Daily Conditioner with Shea Butter & Argan Oil

The conditioner isn’t like the usual thick creamy consistency you’d expect but more like a lotion. Once washed off, that is when you could really feel the benefits of the conditioner as my hair felt silky. After straightening, my hair felt gorgeously smooth and nourished. The conditioner smelt very nice, and although it was subtle, it wasn’t as subtle as the shampoo.

Final Verdict

I am really enjoying using the Dr Botanical Daily Shampoo and Conditioner and can feel the benefits of using them both. I would definitely recommend anyone with normal or dry hair to try these products, especially if they prefer to use products containing natural ingredients.

Vichy Capital Soleil UV-Clear Mattifying Sun Protection

I received the Vichy Capital Soleil UV-Clear Mattifying Sun Protection to test and review from the Vichy Skin Société online community. And this sun protection cream does not disappoint!

My skincare issue?

I have blemish-prone skin, so I try to use products that don’t clog up my pores. When it comes to suncream, I hate anything that leaves my skin feeling sticky or greasy, and this is probably one of my biggest downfalls when it comes to using suncream!

What I tested?

The Vichy Capital Soleil UV-Clear Mattifying Sun Protection SPF50+. This is a lightweight sun cream that is designed for blemish-prone skin, protecting it against UVA and UVB rays without clogging up the pores, thanks to salicylic acid.

How did I use it?

Once I have finished doing my whole skincare routine in the morning, but before applying foundation primer, I used 2 pumps of the Vichy suncream and applied it to my face and neck.

My final thoughts?

The suncream was easy to use, and 2 pumps was the perfect amount. It was more of a lotion consistency, and when applied to the skin, it soaked in really well. There was no sticky or greasy residue or white cast left on the skin. There was no problems with applying makeup on top of the sunscreen and no foundation slippage or separation throughout the day. My skin doesn’t feel congested or greasy, and I would definitely be happy to continue using this product.

Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment

I received the Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment free via an Avant-Skincare Instagram post, I only had to pay postage and packaging.

What does this cream do?

According to avant-skincare.com, this overnight moisturising treatment “aims to treat and intensely re-hydrate for a healthy appearance.”

How to use the cream

I used this cream every other night after cleansing my skin. The cream is a thick consistency, but you only need a small amount as it spreads nicely.

My final verdict

I have been using the Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment for about 6 weeks now and have definitely found that my skin feels much more hydrated. Even though the cream is thick, I never had any problems with clogged pores or breakouts whilst using this cream.

e.l.f Power Grip Primer

What more can I say about the e.l.f Cosmetics Power Grip Primer that hasn’t already been said all over social media!

My problem with foundation was that it would separate around my chin area and look patchy, never stayed in place. I had changed skincare routines and foundations with no success. Then I figured, maybe it’s my primer! I have tried a lot of primers – from drug store brands to expensive brands, but this primer has to be the best primer I have come across.

I first saw the e.l.f Power Grip Primer on Instagram. I think it may have actually been an e.l.f Cosmetics post. The video was of a girl showing the consistency of the primer and then placing items on her face to show the stickiness of the primer.

Being a member of the online Superdrug Community, I was able to get other peoples opinions of this primer, and feedback was really good, so I had to go out and get this sticky primer.

After purchasing from Superdrug, I used it straight away the next morning. I was expecting the primer to be uncomfortably sticky, which it wasn’t. Yes, I did purchase something that I thought would be uncomfortable, but I needed to find my perfect primer

The primer is a gel-like consistency and went on really well. The recommended waiting time between primer application and foundation was short, only about 30 seconds! Applying the foundation on top of this primer was easy – it just glided on.

My foundation stayed put all day, and even when swapping between foundation brands (I’ve built up a bit of a collection), there were still no issues with foundation splitting around my chin area.

This is definitely my number 1 primer, and I would highly recommend anyone to try it. It’s inexpensive but highly effective!

Murad InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment

One of the things I don’t like about my skin is old acne scarring. I have spent so much money on products that claim to reduce the appearance, but nothing seems to work until I started using the Murad InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment!

Why start using Murad?

I saw a video on Instagram where someone was doing either a day-by-day / week-by-week update of using this stuff. You could see the improvement to her skin, so I decided I would give it a go.

What’s the claim?

The Murad InvisiScar Resurfacing Treatment claims to “minimises the look of post-blemish scar size, depth and discolouration in 8 weeks.”

Final verdict

The before and after photos are about 3 weeks apart, and I know the lighting differs, but you can see that the resurfacing treatment does appear to work.

Skinny Tan: The Perfect Together Bundle

The Perfect Together Bundle was gifted to me by Skinny Tan as part of their social club. This bundle consists of their ‘1 Day Tanner’ and ‘Body Buffing Brush’.

What is it?

The ‘1 Day Tanner’ is perfect for those last-minute plans or for those times that you just want that nice tanned glow for a day. And the Skinny Tan Body Buffing Brush is the perfect accessory for buffing those elbows and knees and for finishing off your look.

How to Use

In the morning, I applied the ‘1 Day Tanner’ to my Skinny Tan Velvet Tanning Mitt and rubbed the product evenly into my skin. I then used the Skinny Tan Buffing Brush to buff my knees, as this is one area that always looks odd!

Final Verdict

The Skinny Tan ‘1 Day Tanner’ was super easy to apply, and the Velvet Tanning Mitt and Body Buffing Brush made the whole process that much easier.

Application on my legs was flawless, especially my knees. The tanned colour was gorgeous – a bit dark to just do my legs, so it would be a whole body thing going forward – unless I could tone it down with body moisturiser!?

The ‘1 Day Tanner’ was also super easy to wash off at the end of the day. Simply wash using your own body wash, no scrubed or exfoliating nesecery!

Brush with Multi-Use

Also, I was asked about using the Body Buffing Brush to apply foundation. So I gave it a go, and I have to say that it makes a good foundation brush. It was really quick and easy to apply my foundation, blending really well. The results looked better than using my usual brushes and blenders.

Skinny Tan Self-Tanning Express Mousse

Skinny Tan sent me their Self-Tanning Express Mousse which is a product that is completely new to me, as I have only ever tried gradual tanning products!

The Express Mousse Claim

An express tanning mousse that develops in as little as 1 hour but can be left longer for a deeper colour tan.

How to Use

After showering and exfoliating my skin, I applied the Express Mousse to the Skinning Tan Velvet Tanning Mitt and gently rubbed it into my dried-off skin. After about 1 hour, I jumped back into the shower, rinsed off my legs and then patted them dry!

My Final Verdict

I find myself saying this a lot with Skinny Tan but… I loved this tanning mousse. It was so amazing. I could see where I was applying the mousse and it rubbed in really well using the Skinny Tan tanning mitt.

Originally, I had ideas of leaving the mousse on for the full 6 hours but decided to wash it off after 1 hour, which gave me a nice tanned colour that suited me. But developing time didn’t stop there! Apparently, it keeps developing for another 8 hours – which it did and still looked FAB 😃!

A silicone-free shampoo and conditioner that looks after your hair and scalp using natural and gentle ingredients.

Why Change to MooGoo

I bought this shampoo and conditioner after noticing red, flakey patches in my daughters scalp. I try not to wash her hair too often because she has curly hair, so I only wash it once or twice a week.

Final Verdict

After only a few washes the red, flakey patches were gone. I have also noticed that it really helps encourage both of my daughters’ curly hair. The shampoo lathers up really well and feels squeaky clean once washed off, and the conditioner made the hair feel silky and soft. Both the shampoo and conditioner smell really nice and natural. I used the Notox Face Tanning Drops with my Jan Marini Transformation Face Cream, mixing in about 3 or 4 drops using the drop applicator. I then just massage it into my face and neck like any normal moisturiser. I did this as part of my usual morning and night-time skincare routine.

Skinny Tan do offer a ‘Miracle Brush’ to help you apply the products to your face, if you didn’t want to use your fingers, but I prefer to use my fingers – just made sure my hands were thoroughly washed afterwards (and before, of course)!

Final verdict of the Notox Face Tanning Drops?

I thought the Notox Face Tanning Drops were brilliant and gave me a lovely tanned glow. It was also great to have something that I could just add to my current skincare routine without having to replace anything!

The drop applicator made it easy to add the required number of drops to my face cream. The Notox drops and my Jan Marini face cream mixed together very well.

I used this for a few days continuously, as part of my morning and night-time skincare regime, and didn’t have any bad reaction to the Notox product. Nor did I come out in spots, so clearly it is a “non-pore blocking formula, as it doesn’t usually take much for my skin to have a break-out!

My 70-odd year old Mother also gave the Notox Face Tanning Drops a try, and the results for her were fabulous! She looked glowing and healthy, which also made her feel great! Again, there were no bad reaction and she absolutely loves the Notox Face Tanning Drops.

What’s Our Go-To Fragrance?

To give you an idea of what types of fragrances we generally like, I thought it would be good to share what fragrances we tend to wear! This would hopefully give a better insight into our / my review of the No.4 By Phoenix and No.11 By Leo perfumes from Perfumer’s Choice.

For myself, I absolutely love my CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle perfume. It is one of those fragrances that you can so easily identify when someone is wearing it! It has a strong, unique scent and lasts for days on clothes.

My partner tends to wear Lynx for Men body spray (usually Africa) for work. When he’s not at work, he usually wears Calvin Klein Man.

First Impressions of Perfumer’s Choice

I love the look of the perfume bottles. The metallic red and blue stands out so well against the contrast of the black bottle. I also find the shape of the slimline bottle ideal for carrying in your handbag or rucksack.

I was surprised upon first using the perfume, though – I wasn’t expecting a constant, wide spray of perfume (if that makes sense!). Whenever you think of a perfume, you think of the typical short spritz of perfume. Whereas a body spray, you’d get the constant spray of fragrance until you released your finger.

Final Verdict of Perfumer’s Choice No.4 By Phoenix

Apparently, this is a “unisex fragrance” but I’m not sharing this with no-one!

I really liked this perfume and personally would say that this is more of a feminine fragrance. You can really smell the floral, fruity, musk notes very distinctly.

The fragrance lasted all day and I could still smell it on my coat, even after a few days. There have been a few people who have commented on how nice the fragrance is and even my daughter has said that she really likes it.

Final Verdict of Perfumer’s Choice No.11 By Leo

This is definitely more of a masculine fragrance. You can smell the spicy woody notes, and again, this is one that the fragrance lasted all day.
