Here are some of my top picks that I tried and tested in November 2024, which includes some of my favourite brands such as Wonderskin, Murad, and Paula’s Choice.

1. Wonderskin FYP Filter Powder

This genius 3-in-1 pressed powder was literally designed with all your angles (and issues) in mind. Use alone, with zero makeup or over any makeup brand to watch it “photoshop” away the look of lines and pores and absorb shine with zero cakiness. I love that this is a compact powder. As much as I love other loose setting powders, they can be very messy, but with the Wonderskin FYP Filter Powder, there’s no need to worry about being covered in powder as this is pressed powder.

My personal preference is to apply this powder with a makeup brush. It applies to the skin really well and instantly gets rid of the shine, giving me a lovely matte finish without changing the colour of my foundation.

2. EPAIS Essential Eyelash Serum

The EPAIS Essential Eyelash Serum has been developed to strengthen lashes so that they are stronger and less prone to falling out and gives you voluminous-looking eyelashes.

This serum is mild and safe to use as it has the same pH level as tears and doesn’t contain paraben or prostaglandin. Instead, this serum is packed full of beneficial ingredients for hair growth, such as 10 patented ingredients, 7 peptides, bioin, and pathenol.

The serum has a special dual brush for better application and can be used on under lashes, eyelashes, roots, and eyebrows.

I consider my eyelashes to be in good condition, so I wasn’t entirely sure what this lash serum could offer me!

I have been using this lash serum for about 2 weeks now, morning and evening, and I have definitely noticed that my lashes are looking fuller and healthy.

Also, I love this special dual brush. It really does help to fully coat my lashes from root to tip, and the serum itself hasn’t caused me any irritation.

This is definitely my favourite eyelash serum so far as it is so easy to apply, I know my lashes are well coated, and the results are FAB. I look forward to seeing what longer use of this serum does for my eyelashes!

3. Paula’s Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense

This super-light, anti-ageing moisturiser with SPF protection minimises shine by absorbing excess oil. This is a gentle mineral-based sunscreen and potent blend of antioxidants to protect and fortify the skin. The sheer tint and soft matte finish makes this day cream the perfect make-up base.

This moisturiser contains key ingredients such as:

• Antioxidants: Helps protect skin against harmful free radicals, among others caused by sunlight and pollution.
• Resveratrol: Has significant skin soothing properties for skin.
• Zinc Oxide: A mineral sunscreen that is effective in providing protection against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.

I love the fact that this is basically a 3-in-1 moisturiser – you have the moisturiser, SPF, and CC cream.

This has to be one of my favourite day creams. It applies to the skin really well, leaves my skin feeling moisturised, and gives my skin a nice hint of colour. Great for days when you don’t want to wear foundation but also great for wearing under foundation too.

Also, being someone who suffers from breakouts, this moisturiser doesn’t appear to be causing any additional breakouts or any sensitivity.

4. Murad Vita-C Triple Exfoliating Facial

A triple exfoliating facial that is clinically proven to smooth texture like a microdermabrasion facial – in just one use. The Vitamin C helps to brighten for more even skin tone and healthier-looking skin. Consisting of physical, chemical, and enzymatic exfoliants that will gently but effectively slough off dead skin cells, reinvigorate dull-looking skin, and instantly smooth texture.

This is a gold-stabilised Vitamin C, containing 55% more antioxidant power than traditional Vitamin C – supporting healthier-looking skin and a brighter and more even skin tone.

This is a sample that I received with my last Murad order, and I have only been using it once a week, as I don’t want to irritate my skin. I wanted to use this triple exfoliating facial for two reasons. Firstly, a recent breakout has caused flakey skin where the spots have healed, and secondly, I wanted the rest of my skincare products to penetrate better into my skin.

Despite this being a physical exfoliant, this facial is gentle on the skin even when skin is a little more sensitive. I think the main point here is not to over-do the scrubbing as this is when you can irritate the skin.

I left this on my skin for the maximum recommended time and washed it off with warm water. Admittedly, this would probably be easier done in the shower than the sink, but it was fairly easy to wash off all the mico-minerals.

Each time I have used this Vita-C Triple Exfoliating Facial, my skin has been left feeling soft and very smooth. This facial has done really well to exfoliate away the dead and dry skin, leaving my skin looking fresh and brighter.

5. Makeup Revolution Foundation & Concealer

The Makeup Revolution Skin Silk Serum Foundation is a light to medium coverage foundation that is enriched with hyaluronic and peptide complex to plump and hydrate your complexion. This lightweight, breathable foundation glides on for an undetectable, ‘your-skin-but-better’ feel and is available in 20 shades.

The Makeup Revolution IRL Filter Finish Concealer is a full-coverage concealer that gives long-lasting 16-hour wear formula and provides instant coverage – filtering out blemishes, texture, dark circles, and fine lines. This concealer is enriched with niacinamide to care for skin while you wear.

This duo turned out to be the perfect match for my skintone and looked so natural, and this was all possible thanks to the Makeup Revolution ‘Search Foundation Database’. This databse allows you to search for your current foundation brand, product and shade, returning Makeup Revolutions perfect match! In the Skin Silk Serum Foundation, I went for the shade F3, and in the IRL Filter Finish Concealer, I went for the shade C2.

Both the serum foundation and concealer were easy to apply and blended out so well. I loved how the foundation is buildable, as sometimes I want full coverage if my skin is having a breakout. These lasted really well on my skin throughout the day and didn’t cake, crease, or separate.
