Acwell Licorice Serum

I received the Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Advance Serum free from Picky and Acwell in exchange for my honest review.

What’s the Hype?

All Acwell skincare products are made using traditional Korean herbs and are all 100% made in Korea.

The Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Advance Serum is made using licorice root extract, which is apparetly well known for its anti-inflammatory and brightening properties.

Other than licorice (from Glycyrrhiza Glabra and Uralensis Root Extracts), this serum also contains:

  • Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract: A natural cleanser that removes dirt and oil from the skin.
  • Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract: Helps repair damaged skin cells.
  • Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract: Protects the skin from harmful and damaging irritants.
  • Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract: Helps reduce the appearance of signs of aging due to environmental stress.

Initial Thoughts

The serum comes in a 30ml glass bottle and looks very smart. I really liked the gold Korean stamp on the side of the bottle, which makes it look like a quality product.

The serum is dispensed using a dropper and is a nice consistency, not too oily or watery. It goes on the skin really well and soaks in nicely. The serum doesn’t appear to have any smell to it, which is good as not everyone wants their skincare to be scented – personally, I don’t mind either way!

How to Use?

I have been using the serum twice a day after cleansing and using the Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner, also gifted to me by Picky and Acwell.

I use about 3 or 4 drops of the serum, gently massaging it into my face and neck.

Final Verdict

The main thing that I have noticed since using both the Acwell cleansing toner and serum is that my skin doesn’t seem to look as greasy around the nose area partway through the day. So, it does seem to help control excess oil that my skin would usually produce. Plus, I haven’t had any bad reactions to the products, so it appears to be good for sensitive skin.

I also like that this serum soaks into the skin quite quickly, so you don’t have to wait too long before applying your moisturiser. Nor does it irritate or leave your skin feeling tacky.
